PROGRAM EFFICIENCY
minimum PC requirements
1GHz processor, 128 Mbytes RAM, 150 Mbytes hard disk, 16 bit colour, Windows 98, XP or Vista

I've put the minimum requirements up there because a number of the mainstream smgs these days will not run on anything but a high-end PC. And often they don't make that obvious.
Today's Windows software is the most appallingly inefficient programming I've met in 30 years of programming.
Calling it "bloatware" hardly does it justice now.
The Windows version of SaaP was begun in 1999 and was designed from the start for distribution over the Internet. For that reason I chose what's known as a
"lower level" computer language for development so that the final file sizes would be quick to download even for those with the dialup connections most had at that time.

Today, with almost everyone using a broadband connection, this isn't completely necessary and I have allowed the file size to rise if only to include more
graphics and an increased database.
However there remain two significant advantages of the program: it runs on most PCs and it runs blazingly fast compared to other smgs. You will not have time to read a novel
while the game trundles through its processing procedures. It will load, run and load the SAVEGAME files in just 7 seconds.
It means a modest increase in programming time for me but less waiting time for you and the game will only take up 90 MBytes or so of your harddisk and, zipped up, you can download it in minutes.
